What is it?

Simply is running a series of interactive financial literacy workshops for domestic workers, presented by Craig Torr in a combination of Xhosa, English and Afrikaans.

The next workshop is scheduled from 15:00 to 17:00 on Thursday 10 October at Claremont Methodist Church Hall, 22 Cavendish St, Claremont, Cape Town.

The hour long workshop covers:

How interest works; Loan sharks; The real cost of debt; Making interest work FOR you; What it really costs to buy on credit; and Delayed gratification.

2. How to start saving

Where and how to save; Bank charges and other costs; What are you saving for? Emergency savings.

3. Preparing a budget

Different types of expenses; How to make your budget work for you; How to plan for unforeseeable costs; Getting & staying out of debt.

4. Concepts of compound interest

How interest works; Loan sharks; The real cost of debt; Making interest work FOR you.
